Epic Movie #1??

What the hell happened to American Cinema!? What is it about spoofs that is so god damn popular? Would someone explain this to me… because failing that… there is really no reason for me to make movies in this climate. If it’s not completely unoriginal and insulting to other people’s work… its not funny… i don’t understand… I must be too old or something. Oh well.

Wow, Natalie!

This is a couple of months old, but, I just saw it and thought I would post it. Once again, Ms. Portman has reminded us how awesome she truly is. What I would give to have coffee with this chick… and by coffee.. I mean, actually have coffee and a conversation, it would be truly intriguing.

The Great American Romantic Comedy

For those who don’t know, my film, “Awake”, has been classified as a “Dark Romantic Comedy”. Now, we all have fond memories of some cheesy romantic comedy that touched our hearts at some point in our youth. But it is true that recently, in the last 10 or 15 years or so, this genre has had a significant decline. This fact and my opinions of the causes of this phenominon are at the heart of the film, and are much of the reason why I am making this film in the first place; as an illustration of why, not only romantic comedies, but romance in general, is dying in our modern culture.

Interestingly, there was a brief story about this on NPR. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5158024

Yet another birthday knocked out.

Yesterday was my birthday, and as you might expect, my weekend was very full.

Saturday I hung out with the parents all day, ate, drove around, watched movies. I saw Million Dollar Baby. Someone please explain to me how that film won over the Aviator?

Sunday morning, I overslept, played Eve for a while with Brian, left to take care of some stuff, Got back iin time for us me to change, and left for Dinner. We had very nice time at Flemmings, flirted with our waitress and the hostess, who was probably too young for me… but who cares.

The Final Sign…

… of the Appocalypse.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050728/ap_on_hi_te/digital_movies

Prepare yourselves for the end of quality entertainment at the movies. The nostalgia that goes along with movies, the reason I started making movies in the first place, will never be experienced by future generations, as they cram in to watch the latest digital extraviganza presented in ultra sharp, ultra crisp, ultra color perfect, completely boring and sterile characterless digital theaters. The end is coming…

*sigh*

Last night I watched “The Quick and the Dead”. I’ve seen it before but a long time ago. What I noticed was how beautifully shot it was. There were many very difficult and complicated camera shots, and some very nice work done with lighting. I was thouroghly impressed. I wanted to talk with the Director of Photography about what he used and choices he made. I thought I recognized his name… one sec.. IMDB… Wow, Dante Spinotti, he also did Heat, L.A. Confidential, and The Insider. I would love to work under his wing….

Then I decided to look up information on Katie Holmes last night. I’ve been infatuated with her for years, ever since I saw “Go”. I didn’t watch “Dawson’s Creek” much since I’m not much into to TV, but, I’ve always wanted her for my own film, but now she’s too old, but I’m stilll heavily attracted to her…. not that it matters… But what I did discover last night amonst other interesting things about her, is that her birthday is on December 18… which is the same day as Val Kilmer, Steven Spielberg, and… Me.
